Studio East, a vibrant youth theatre organization dedicated to nurturing young talent and enriching the community through the performing arts, is seeking a collaborative and entrepreneurial Development Manager.

Role Description

The Development Manager provides strategic leadership in planning, implementing, and managing fundraising efforts for Studio East. This role is instrumental in cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and government funders to secure financial support for all programming, community outreach, and operational needs.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the ideal candidate is a quick learner, strategic thinker, and skilled communicator, with passion for theater and its importance in our world. The candidate should have experience with fundraising and/or non-profit theater, with a proven track record in contributed revenue cultivation.

This role is a full-time role with flexibility to work from home up to two days a week. Core working hours are Monday-Friday with some evening and weekend hours to support special events.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy and Execution (40%)

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan, including annual giving campaigns, major giving, corporate sponsorships, grants, and special events.
  • Collaboratively lead management of donor database (PatronManager) to track contributions, generate reports, and analyze fundraising metrics.
  • Partner with the Marketing Team to create compelling fundraising materials, including appeals, newsletters, and social media campaigns.
  • Coordinate with current Development team and grant writers to identify appropriate funding opportunities, deliver compelling proposals, and manage final reporting for foundations and government agencies.

Donor Relations and Stewardship (40%)

  • Identify, cultivate, and work with the Managing Director, Artistic Director and Board to solicit donors and prospects to build a robust donor pipeline, set fundraising goals, and report on progress.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships between Studio East and the greater community of donors, families, sponsors, and community members.
  • Deepen donor engagement and increase giving levels.

Event Management (20%)

  • Plan and execute annual fundraising events such as Spring Gala, Season Announcements, and more by coordinating logistics, developing event budgets, and coordinating staffing needs.
  • Coordinate donor appreciation events and programs, such as receptions, or behind-the-scenes experiences with artists.
  • Collaborate with marketing and programming staff to align events with the organization’s artistic mission and brand.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with capital campaigns.
  • Experience in grant writing.
  • Knowledge of community-centric fundraising practices and principles.
  • Familiarity and experience with King County philanthropic community and arts funding opportunities.
  • Experience in Patron Manager and/or Salesforce as a donor CRM.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial reporting for nonprofit contributed revenue.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, hybrid position. While some remote work is possible, significant on-site time will be required to develop a first-hand understanding of the Studio’s programming.

Salary: $55,000 – $60,000 annually, depending on experience

Studio East, a vibrant youth theatre organization dedicated to nurturing young talent and enriching the community through the performing arts, is seeking collaborative and friendly Summer Teaching Artists for Summer 2026.

Role Description

Summer Teaching Artist Interns assist in running a smooth summer camp program by acting as classroom assistants and administrative support to summer camp operations.

This program also serves to train young professionals in teaching artist skills through mentorship, classroom experience, weekly training sessions, and focused feedback. Interns who receive positive feedback may have the opportunity to “lead teach” a camp at the end of the summer with the support of another teaching artist.

This is a seasonal, part-time role that reports to the Education & Outreach Director.

Hours & Compensation

  • Studio East’s Summer Camp program runs June 22–August 28.
  • Exact Summer Internship schedules are assigned after hire.
  • This position requires 20–36 hours per week depending on your camp assignment, with an anticipated average of more than 200 hours over the entirety of the summer.
  • Mandatory Training will take place on Sunday, June 7 (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.).

Compensation: Hourly, Washington State Minimum Wage (current $17.13/hour)

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a teaching assistant for Studio East summer camps which includes:
    • Leading age-appropriate warm-ups and games
    • Setting up and cleaning up art projects
    • Monitoring students during bathroom, snack & lunch breaks
    • Keeping camp neat and tidy through organization supplies and daily cleaning and sanitizing duties.
    • Acting as a stage manager for the final sharing by taking notes on blocking, standing in for missing students, and monitoring backstage behavior
    • Maintaining a professional demeanor as a representative of Studio East
  • Prepare to lead teach a camp by the end of the summer by:
    • Attending weekly teaching artist pedagogy classes
    • Assisting in camps for every different age group.
    • Observing and asking questions from lead teaching artists you are partnered with.
    • Applying focused feedback towards future camp assignments
    • Turning in lesson plan and curriculum homework assignments
  • Support the summer from an administrative perspective by:
    • Assisting with compiling camp paperwork including rosters, name tags, emergency forms and more.
    • Plan and collect materials for thematically and age-appropriate art projects.
    • Support the admin team with front desk duties such as answering phones, checking students in and out of class, and answering parent questions.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Education & Outreach Director and weekly teaching artist mentor.

Job Requirements

  • Must have access to a vehicle.
  • CPR & First Aid certification required upon hire.
  • Must pass background check.
  • This job will require onsite work at Studio East and offsite work at local camp venues.

Desired Qualifications

  • Ages 16-22
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, elements of teaching and theater production
  • Strong passion for arts education, young people, & Studio East’s mission
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Interest in theater, theater education, or classroom teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and exercise discretion in a fast paced, collaborative work environment
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, and dedication to teamwork.

Theater Teachers and Directors

Studio East welcomes resumes from Teaching Artists who are interested in joining our faculty. We hire energetic, responsible theater arts educators who have teaching, directing, choreographing, and/or music directing experience with young people ages 4-19. We are interested in Teaching Artists with several years of teaching/directing experience who love sharing their skills and experience with kids. Trained educators, actors with teaching experience, and pianists are encouraged to apply.

Projects include:

  • Instructors for daytime and after school/evening classes, both on site at Studio East and at eastside area schools
  • Directors/Musical Directors/Choreographers for after school/evening productions, both on site at Studio East and at eastside area schools
  • Directors/Musical Directors for school break camps in April at Studio East and during the summer months at various eastside locations
