“Not only did the Studio East Intensive refine my son’s skills as a performing artist, it gave him more confidence in all other areas of his life. The quality of instruction was superb.”

Contact Education Director Kaysy Ostrom and Intensive Coordinator Kim Douthit if you have any questions.
The Studio Intensive is a supportive program for passionate theater students who want to build their skills and confidence on stage. Because we expect our Intensive students to already have a solid understanding of theater skills, this is an audition-only program. Both new and repeat students are expected to audition for this year’s cohort.
1. Prepare and Record:
You can either record all three as one video, or as separate videos.
If you need ideas or help with material please see our audition resources folder.
2. Upload your video(s). You can upload them as an unlisted YouTube video (instructions below), or to a folder in a cloud service like Google Drive.
3. Fill out the audition form, which includes a link to your audition video.
3. After submitting your form, finish by sending a head shot (picture of your face!) and resume (list of your previous experience) to StudioEastIntensive@gmail.com.
This video includes an intro, tutorial, demo with counts, and demo from the front with music. Feel free to use this as a template for your own audition!
The whole combination is eight 8 counts and runs just over 30 seconds long. It’s intentionally a bit challenging to set the tone, so don’t worry if you don’t get it perfect. Give it your best shot!
2. Music Tracks
Classes run Saturday mornings, from 9 a.m – 12 p.m.
Our expectation is that students attend as many classes as possible. Absences not only impact the learning of the individual student, but also their classmates as theater is an ensemble-based craft. Repeated lateness or absences could result in losing your spot in the cohort. Those decisions will be made at the discretion of the Education Director and Intensive Coordinator. Should absences be unavoidable, please contact and Education Director Kaysy Ostrom and Intensive Coordinator Kim Douthit.
WINTER: January 10 – March 21 (no class on Feb 14th)
SPRING: April 4 – June 13 (no class May 23rd)
Students rotate between three performing arts classes each Saturday with a focus on acting, voice, and movement. Each quarter, we shift the class focus based on student experience and interest. The rotating schedule provides variety of content for returning students. Additional specialty curriculum is offered as one day workshops throughout the year from industry professionals. After auditioning, each student is assigned a group. Each group may work on different curriculum in each content area.
Our instructors are incredibly experienced and professional in their craft. Our teachers are also currently working as local actors, directors, teachers, musicians, and more.

Students can register for individual sessions or for the full year, and tuition can be paid up front in full or on a payment plan. Please note that there is a non-refundable $100 fee with all registrations and no refunds available after the second class of a session.
If tuition is a barrier to entry, please fill out our tuition assistance application. Studio East Training for the Performing Arts is committed to ACCESS to ALL and we never want financial hardship to prevent a child from experiencing the transformative power of the performing arts. Tuition assistance scholarships are currently available for ALL AGES (4-19) for ALL Studio programs for those needing financial assistance to participate. (As long as assistance funds are available)
