About The Show: Annie KIDS

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Through her journey, she foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations and finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Now accepting cast auditions for our Second Stage production of Annie KIDS!

Casting Audition Information

The Second Stage series offers experienced teen artists the opportunity to take on leadership roles by directing and supporting a cast of younger performers in a 30-minute KIDS musical. Auditions are open to students ages 6 to 13.

Production Timeline:

  • Auditions (Ages 6–13): February 6 (5–8 PM)
  • Rehearsals: Tuesdays & Saturdays, February 10–March 28 (6:30–8:00 PM)
  • Tech Week: March 31–April 2 (5–8 PM)
  • Performances: April 3 – April 4

What to Prepare:

  • (1) 32-bar cut or 1-minute selection of a song.
    • Think a verse and a chorus or chorus and a bridge.
    • If you have sheet music, you are welcome to bring it to have our accompanist play.
    • Additionally, we welcome karaoke tracks or a cappella singing. Songs should ideally be from Broadway or Disney, but any song that shows off your range and style is appropriate.
  • (1) short monologue that shows your narrative ability.
    • This can be a poem, a selection from a book or play, or even a short story about your own life!

Please bring sheet music in the correct key with your cuts clearly marked. An accompanist will be provided.

*If unavailable for auditions, you may submit a video audition no later than 7 PM on February 6th, 2026 to be considered for callbacks.

ROLES:

Please note, for a character’s gender/age, this is the gender/age they are portrayed as on stage. Casting is open to any gender identity that is comfortable presenting as the character.

Annie

Annie is a complex, tough, streetwise urchin who is surprisingly vulnerable when she thinks she might lose what has become most important to her: her newfound “family.”

 

Sandy

Sandy is the stray dog that Annie adopts.

 

Molly

The Orphans are gritty girls that are neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and lovable. Molly is the littlest.

 

Kate

The Orphans are gritty girls that are neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and lovable. Kate is the next-to-youngest.

 

Tessie

The Orphans are gritty girls that are neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and lovable. Tessie is the cry baby.

 

Pepper

The Orphans are gritty girls that are neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and lovable. Pepper is the toughest.

 

July

The Orphans are gritty girls that are neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and lovable. July is the quietest.

 

Duffy

The Orphans are gritty girls that are neglected and vulnerable, yet basically honest and lovable. Duffy is the oldest.

 

Miss Hannigan

Miss Hannigan is a definite “has-been.” Her distaste for her job should ooze from every line she delivers.

 

Rooster Hannigan

Rooster Hannigan and Lily St. Regis are the comic team who claim to be Annie’s parents but are revealed to be Miss Hannigan’s swindling brother and his sleazy girlfriend in disguise.

 

Lily St. Regis

Rooster Hannigan and Lily St. Regis are the comic team who claim to be Annie’s parents but are revealed to be Miss Hannigan’s swindling brother and his sleazy girlfriend in disguise.

Oliver Warbucks

Oliver Warbucks is the daunting millionaire who made his fortune during World War I as an industrialist. In the beginning, Warbucks is awkwardly affectionate toward Annie and then finds himself completely charmed by her.

 

Grace Farrell

Grace Farrell is Oliver Warbucks’s calm, cool and classy secretary. She appears businesslike when dealing with Miss Hannigan and Warbucks, yet maternal toward Annie.

 

Drake And Servants

Drake and the Servants are the loyal domestic help of Oliver Warbucks.

 

Apple Seller

The Apple Seller opens Scene 2 speaking to Annie and giving her an apple.

 

Lt. Ward

Lt. Ward is the policeman who questions Annie about Sandy, the stray dog.

 

Bert Healy

Bert Healy is the classic announcer on a radio show of the era.

 

Bundles

Bundles is the laundryman for the orphanage.

 

President Franklin D. Roosevelt

President Franklin D. Roosevelt is enlisted by Oliver Warbucks to help locate Annie’s parents.

 

Louis Howe

Louis Howe is President Roosevelt’s trustworthy aide.

 

Star(s)-To-Be

Star(s)-To-Be is a glamorous diva in the number “N.Y.C.”

 

Usherette

The Usherette ushers Warbucks, Annie and Grace to their seats in the Roxy at the end of “N.Y.C.”

 

New Yorkers

The New Yorkers are comprised of a wonderfully colorful collection of characters, usually identified by their occupation.

We want every student to feel welcome on our stage. To keep our programs strong amid rising costs, tuition will increase slightly this year. We understand that changes like this can be challenging, so families may use a discount code to continue at the previous rate if needed which will be made available during casting. Additional tuition assistance and work-study options are also available—please submit applications by January 20th so we can process them in time.
