The Bloody Bard

Director: Kim Douthit

Join us for an original exploration of Shakespeare’s spookiest, witchiest, and bloodiest works just in time for Halloween. Students will spend rehearsals learning important skills to performing this illustrious cannon; from text analysis to character development and movement styles as well as stage combat and special effects to put together a unique showcase of Shakespeare scenes, sonnets, and monologues. Selections include pieces from Hamlet, Julius Caeser, King Lear, Titus Andronicus, and more!

Whether it’s your first time working with the Bard, or you are a seasoned pro – there’s a place for you! Newer students will work on ensemble and small featured roles while experienced students can explore hefty monologues and iconic leads. Auditions and placement will occur during the first meeting.

The session will end with a production taking place Halloween weekend (10/31 – 11/2). What better way to ring in the season?

Some conflicts will be accepted, but students should be available for most rehearsals. No conflicts are allowed during tech and performances.

Rehearsal Schedule:

9/18 – 10/27 Sundays 1-4pm, Wednesdays 7-9pm (small group work)

Tech Rehearsals:

10/28 – 10/30 5:30pm – 10pm

Production Fee: $325
