Young Actors Professional Intensive (YAPI) 2013
If you’re a teen who’s interested in a summer full of theater classes, intense learning, and a lot of fun, call the Studio to set up a YAPI audition/interview. Students spend six weeks immersed in college-level theater classes including Audition Technique, Acting for the Camera, Scene Study, Shakespeare, Combat, Improvisation, Musical Theater, The Business and more. Faculty is made up of professional educators and artists. A showcase is presented for an invited audience on the final weekend. YAPI is open to actors 13-19 years old and students are grouped by age and experience. Admission is by audition only.
YAPI Auditions & Information
Auditions: January 11, February 8, March 1, March 28, April 26 and May 10. Spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Auditions are 20 minutes in length. Returning students do not need to re-audition but must call to ensure a space. (Once the program is full, we stop auditioning.)
Prepare: A contemporary monologue one minute in length and an interview. Please bring a picture/resume.
Enrollment: Up to 36 students, ages 13 to 19
Dates: Monday, July 8 – Saturday, August 17
Times: 9am until 5pm, Monday – Friday
Showcases: Friday and Saturday, August 16 and 17
Class Fee: $1,350
New York Trip: $1,350 (August 20 – 25) (optional)
NEW YORK TRIP: Following YAPI, students may opt to travel to New York for a 6-day theater tour. The New York trip fee includes airfare, hotel, and at least five shows. Last year students saw War Horse, Peter and the Starcatcher, Once, Tribes, Newsies and One Man, Two Guv’nors.
