Teen Camps: Two Week Theatrical Production Camps

To sing or not to sing – that is the question! Teens can choose between the spoken works of Shakespeare and the ever-entertaining musical theater format for a fabulous fun-filled 2-week camp experience. Teen Camps give older students a chance to develop acting skills and get great stage time! Each production is an ensemble piece with many opportunities to develop acting skills through in-camp workshops like Improvisation, Stage Combat and Selling a Song. Camps conclude with performances for family and friends at 1 and 3pm on the final Friday.

* Camp performances will end at approximately 4:30 on the final day.

** Final “Tempest” camp performances at 6pm & 8pm, so campers will be finished at approximately 9:30pm on the final day.

The Tempest (non-musical)

Rehearse and perform one of the Bard’s greatest hits, chock full of costumes, rhyming couplets and fight scenes. The Tempest is set on a remote island, where Prospero, the exiled Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place through illusion and skillful manipulation. This adaptation has roles for everyone and includes some doubling, so every participant will have lots to do. (Limited to 20 students.)

Teen Glee! (musical)

Our most popular camp ever, this high-energy musical has been brought back with new songs and a new plot line. Back for their 5th year, Sam Pettit and Justin Beal have created a performance in the style of the television show “Glee”. The emphasis will be on popular songs, group vocal harmonies, movement, stag­ing and fun, fun, fun! All abilities are welcome. (Limited to 30 students.)

Once on This Island (musical)

In almost non-stop song and dance, Island tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death. This poignant story features great songs set to a catchy Caribbean score. (Limited to 30 students.)
