Summer Programs
Studio East has been offering summer theater camps since 1993! Our one and two-week camps are a great way to get a taste of theater or improve existing skills. Camps for younger children focus on creative dramatics and script creation, while older campers work from a script to create a theatrical production. Intensive courses are also offered for teenagers age 11-19. Plus, for the performer, there are two summer musicals they can audition for! All of our camps are located within 8 miles of Kirkland. (Exact locations will be announced in May.) Our summer musicals are performed at Studio East and the Kirkland Performance Center. We invite all interested kids to come sing, dance, act, laugh, perform and make new friends this summer!

Ages 4 – 6
Spark your creativity and have lots of fun at the same time! Little Players camps are an integrated arts experience that includes story telling, songs, crafts, and movement. Each week focuses on a different theme and different activities to excite the young camper’s spirit and imagination.
Grades 1 – 2
Create your own story and bring it to life on stage! TaleSpinners campers work together to write an original play, create their characters, choose costumes, make props and set pieces, and perform their dazzling creation on the final day.
Grades 3 – 6
Immerse yourself in all aspects of putting on a show – auditions, learning lines and music, rehearsing blocking and choreography, and performing for family and friends. Playmakers campers write their own show. Summer Stage campers choose from 4 scripted shows. After Camp Care is available for select 3rd-6th grade camps.
Grades 7 – 10
To sing or not to sing – that is the question! Teens can choose between the spoken works of Shakespeare and the ever-entertaining musical theater format for a fabulous fun-filled 2-week camp experience. Each production is an ensemble piece with many opportunities to develop acting skills through in-camp workshops like Improvisation, Stage Combat and Selling a Song.
Ages 11 – 14
Our Young Performers Series One-Week Intensive is for students who want to delve into some serious theater classes but don’t have an entire summer to devote. Process-based, this week-long intensive meets daily from 9:30am – 4:30pm at Studio East and is taught by the same faculty who teach the Studio’s 6 week Young Actors Professional Intensive.
Ages 13 – 19
Serious acting students aged 13-19 are invited to audition for our summer teen program, the Young Actor’s Professional Intensive (YAPI), a six-week, comprehensive, college-level course of study in many aspects of the performing arts. Work with professional actors and instructors to develop and hone your performance skills.
Summer Productions for Ages 10 – 19
In addition to our day camp activities, up to 50 teens perform in our annual Summer Teen Musical at the Kirkland Performance Center. Youth ages 10-14 are invited to audition in our Young Performers Summer Musical at Studio East.
