Homeschool Classes: Ages 9-12
Whether your child is just beginning to explore drama, or has been in our Homeschool program since preschool, we have a class suited just for them! At this age, skills can be extended to learn more theater terminology and technique, or students can delve right in exploring drama and working on self-expression through play creation.

Students must be within prescribed age ranges on the first day of class. Exceptions made only by special permission of the Education Director.

In just a few short months, we will adapt an existing story into our own theatrical creation. We will dive into the story and setting by using music, dance, art and so much more. Students will meet the characters and be faced with the conflicts of the story. This creative drama adventure will jumpstart students' knowledge and enthusiasm for the play that we will create in the last weeks of class. We will write the script, learn our lines and rehearse our staging, add costumes and props, and finally present our play to friends and family!

We’re putting on a one act musical, to be performed on our stage in May, 2014! The title has yet to be determined – we’ll choose just the right script to match our group of young performers. Through our performance preparation, we’ll learn acting, singing and dancing skills and gain confidence while working as an ensemble to tell a great story!

Join us as we create an epic battle to thrill the ages! Two groups meet on the battle field where legends are created, adventure abounds and everyone is a hero...or villain, if they want. That's cool too! This play creation class takes elements of stage combat along with the imaginations of the students to build a saga to be told for generations to come. Be knights! Be ninjas! Be scary monsters or action princesses! Creativity encouraged. Learn story building, character creation and the beginnings of stage combat.

This fun class gives students the opportunity to learn about basic stage language and acting techniques. They will learn the rules of the stage as well as basic tools for character development. The focus will be on preparing and working a monologue and working with other actors in scene study. It is a great introduction to the world of live performance!

A perfect theater sampler for those who want to taste it all! Every few weeks we will explore a different subject such as Improvisation, Physical Comedy, and Musical Theater. We will also learn basic stage and acting technique throughout the session. A great place for young actors to try out many different facets of theater, and have a ton of fun!

Perform a one act play complete with costumes and props! From auditions through performances, this class is a wonderful introduction to the production process. Students come on the first day with a memorized monologue to use in the group audition process and then jump into working with a script. Acting skills will be developed throughout the class session through exercises connected to the rehearsal goals. On the final day of class, friends and family will be invited to see the product of all the hard work!
