After School Classes
Winter Classes have begun. Spring Classes will open for registration in March.
Our Quarterly Theater Class program offers Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions, each 8 weeks in length. We also offer a 6-week Mini Winter Session between Fall and Winter. We offer acting, dancing, and singing classes with a variety of themes and focuses for preschool through high school students.
If you have an idea for a class that you do not see offered, contact the Education Director – if you have at least six students and we have the space and the Instructor, you can create your own class!
All classes are listed by grade level. Exceptions are only made by permission of the Education Director.

Learn the singing skills necessary to perform in musicals! Geared for students who want to study voice, but are not ready to commit to private singing lessons; this small class is perfect for the aspiring performer. Students will study musical terms, singing techniques, and explore their voices through group songs and solos from Broadway and movie musicals. At the end of the session students will confidently sing solo for families and show off what they’ve learned!

Acting II is an intermediate level acting class. This class builds upon basic acting skills and challenges students to take their acting skills to the next level. Learn to analyze text for beats, subtext, character motivations, tactics, playable actions, and given circumstances. Learn to give and take constructive criticism. A musical theater extravaganza! Students will sing songs and learn choreography from the musical Once On This Island. This class will focus on building a character, stage presence, and acting a song. We will end our class with a fabulous musical revue complete with songs and an original scene!

Lights, camera, action! This is an on-camera acting class for beginners interested in exploring the world of TV and film. This is particularly good for students who have acted on stage, and want to make the transition to on-camera. Students will have a chance to be on camera, watch their performance and the performances of the other students, and work with a variety of genres.

Detectives unite! We will dive into the Nate the Great and Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew books using drama, music, dance, and art. In this story drama class we will write our own Nate and Nancy inspired script, learn our lines, and rehearse our staging. We will present our mystery script to friends and family on the final day of class!

Exploring new worlds through drama is a great way to build confidence and communication skills. Students will play games, read stories, and sing songs to unleash their inner drama bug! In this play creation and performance class, students will twist and turn fairy tales into a new theatrical creation! We’ll use storytelling, improvisation, and creative drama to create our own fractured fairy tale. Maybe we’ll hear all about the story of Red Riding Hood from the Wolf’s point of view. Or, we’ll change the three little pigs into college students. Perhaps the dwarfs will take Snow White to court for trespassing. After finalizing our script, we will learn our lines, rehearse our staging, and add costumes and props. On the final class day we’ll present our play to friends and family!

This beginning acting class will provide students with the tools they need for a strong foundation in acting. We’ll learn the “rules” of the stage as well as how to develop characters, improvise, and work with other actors in scenes. In this small class you’ll get focused feedback as you work with your peers on acting exercises and scenes. On the last day of class we’ll share our work with families and friends.

Students with dance experience will enjoy this fast-paced and fun course. Learn choreography and technique set to the sound tracks of current Broadway shows. The class will focus on traditional musical theater dance technique including tap. Students will improve their technique and musicality in the process. Permission from the Director of Education is required to enroll in this class.

Tap and jazz are important skills for students interested in musical theatre to learn. In this class students will learn the basics of tap and jazz, focusing on pairing basic tap and jazz terminology with their respective steps, learning a musical theatre routine, and giving students confidence in their skills. On the final day of class we’ll share our skills with family and friends in a final presentation.
