Young Actors Professional Intensive (YAPI)
Want to get serious about theater? Now in its 22nd year, Studio East’s 6-week Young Actors Professional Intensive (YAPI) offers some of Seattle’s finest theater training for teens who want to delve into and explore the art and craft of theater. Designed to challenge and stretch the mind, body, voice and imagination, YAPI asks students to risk on both personal and artistic levels with a curriculum that intentionally challenges and supports beginning to advanced students. Classes, taught by working professionals, include Shakespeare, Music Theater, Audition, Scene Study, Stage Combat, Dance, Play Analysis and more. YAPI is open to actors 13-19 years old, and limited to 36 students, grouped by age and experience. Admission is by audition only.
Auditions: Call for an audition appointment. Remaining audition dates are March 30, April 13 and May 21. Spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and once the spaces are filled, we stop auditioning. Auditions are 20 minutes in length. Returning students do not need to re-audition, but must call to ensure a space in the program.
Prepare: A contemporary monologue, one minute in length. Please bring a picture and resume.

Showcases: Friday and Saturday, August 17 and 18
Class Fee: $1,350
New York Trip: $1,350 (August 21 -26) (optional)
NEW YORK TRIP: Following YAPI, students may opt to travel to New York City for a 6 day theater tour. The New York trip fee includes airfare, hotel and at least five Broadway shows. Last year students saw War Horse, How to Succeed…, Sister Act, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Jerusalem and Follies.
