BIO: Chris Mayse
Chris Mayse earned his BA in Theatre Arts from Southern Utah University and his MFA from the Professional Actor Training Program at Ohio University. His training has been focused on various theatrical techniques: Stanislavski, Strasberg, Hagen, Meisner, LeCoq, Suzuki, Viewpoints, Linklater. Chris has worked professionally as an actor for decades; having performed leading roles with the Milwaukee Rep, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Montana Rep, Nevada Conservatory Theatre, and at various venues on the Las Vegas Strip. Chris also freelances as a director, designer, and administrator for varying organizations. However, his passion for teaching and mentoring young artists has led to a twenty-two year career as an arts educator. Chris has taught off and on with Studio East for the past fourteen years. He is constantly inspired by his students, as their challenges become the center for his educational work; a philosophy that encourages skill-building, process-centered instruction, and production-based application. He has developed his philosophies in a variety of venues across the United States, as well as in leading theatrical programs in middle and secondary-level schools in multiple states. Chris loves to learn and hopes his passion will inspire those he mentors to love the arts as much as he does.
